For anyone diagnosed with prostate cancer, genetic testing may provide the following information and benefit:

- Men who test positive for an inherited mutation in EPCAM, MLH1, MSH2, MSH6 or PMS2 may be eligible for treatment with an immunotherapy agent.
- Men with prostate cancer who test positive for an inherited mutation in a gene linked to prostate cancer may be eligible for certain clinical trials and research studies.
- Testing can help men with prostate cancer understand their risk for additional cancers and make medical decisions about risk management.
- Test results can help the relatives of men with prostate cancer understand their risk for cancer and take actions to stay healthy.
