September 20, 2021
In this session, three Asian American women discuss their experiences with genetic counseling, learning they have an inherited BRCA mutation, and their decisions over the past few years. In partnership with their genetic counselor, who is also an Asian American woman, you will hear about how cultural influences affected their decisions. Presented by Liza Talusan, PhD (University of Massachusetts Boston); Grace Talusan (Brandeis University); Mary Talusan Lacanlale (California State University, Dominguez Hills); Gayun Chan Smutko, CGC (MGH Institute Of Health Professions).
Asian Americans who are considering genetic testing for an inherited mutation, their relatives and loved ones, and medical professionals who provide their care.
