Hereditary Cancer Advocacy Coalition

Sign up for our newsletter to learn about important information and resources for healthcare and research professionals who serve the hereditary cancer community.

FORCE established the Hereditary Cancer Advocacy Coalition (HCAC) to advance federal and state public policies that expand access to health services needed by the hereditary cancer community.

The coalition brings together a diverse group of stakeholders interested in healthcare policy and practice reform that leads to improved outcomes for individuals with or at risk of hereditary cancers. There is no cost associated with membership in the HCAC. Participation is open to FORCE partners and other patient advocacy organizations and health professional societies with a vested interest in the hereditary cancer community.

Coalition Goals

  • Build awareness about hereditary cancer and the barriers that hinder access to guideline-recommended care.
  • Identify opportunities to increase access to healthcare needed by individuals in the hereditary cancer community, i.e., genetic counseling and testing, biomarker testing, high-risk (“supplemental”) cancer screenings, fertility services, targeted therapies, risk-reducing interventions and other issues as determined by the coalition.
  • Engage patient and provider groups in advocacy, addressing obstacles to appropriate care via public policy solutions, with an emphasis on health equity.

The coalition meets monthly to discuss current policy developments. Members include prominent national organizations and smaller nonprofits, ensuring that everyone has the chance to remain updated and actively participate in advocacy efforts supporting individuals affected by hereditary cancer.
