Volunteer Spotlight - Jenn McGinnis

Finding out I had a BRCA1 mutation was a turning point in my life, but connecting with FORCE changed everything. As a previvor, navigating hereditary cancer risk comes with a unique set of challenges, and FORCE’s Peer Navigation Program was one of the very first places I turned to for support. The compassion and resources I found here helped ground me during a very uncertain time.

Knowing firsthand how life-changing that support was, I knew I wanted to give back. For the past five and a half years, volunteering with FORCE has given me the opportunity to pay it forward to others who are standing right where I once stood.

Being part of FORCE isn’t just about volunteering; it’s about being part of a compassionate network that turns fear into strength. I volunteer so that every person facing hereditary cancer risk knows they have a supportive community behind them every step of the way. I didn't choose to have my mutation, but I can choose what I do with this information. I'm grateful to FORCE for providing me with an outlet to share my story and empower others through peer-based support.
