FDA approves Orgovyx, the first oral hormone therapy of its type for treating advanced prostate cancer

In December 2020, the FDA approved Orgovyx to treat advanced prostate cancer. The findings were based on the HERO clinical trial of more than 900 men. Data from this trial showed the new therapy was safer than standard androgen deprivation treatment for men with advanced prostate cancer and risk of cardiovascular disease. (2/18/21)

- NCT04666129: Study of Relugolix in Men With Metastatic Castration-Sensitive Prostate Cancer or Non-Metastatic or Metastatic Castration-Resistant Prostate Cancer. This study will test how safe and tolerable the drug relugolix is when used with other drugs approved for androgen deprivation therapy (ADT).
- NCT05100472: A Study of Shorter Course Hormone Therapy and Radiation for High-risk Prostate Cancer. The purpose of this study is to find out whether combining a shorter than standard course of hormone therapy with standard prostate radiation therapy is a safe and effective way to prevent high-risk prostate cancer from coming back and/or spreading.
- NCT02949284: Androgen Receptor Antagonist ARN-509 With or Without Abiraterone Acetate, Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone Analog, and Prednisone in Treating Patients With High-Risk Prostate Cancer Undergoing Surgery This study will look at how well the hormonal therapy ARN-509 works with or without abiraterone and prednisone in treating patients with high-risk prostate cancer who are undergoing surgery.
- NCT03860987: Neoadjuvant Androgen Deprivation Therapy Combined With Enzalutamide and Abiraterone Using Multiparametric MRI and 18FDCFPyL PET/CT in Newly Diagnosed Prostate Cancer. The goal of this study is to develop improved techniques to localize and detect prostate cancer; and to develop new ways to treat prostate cancer
