Did you know undergoing surgically or chemically induced menopause could put you at risk for cognitive difficulties? During menopause, many women subjectively report a decrease in their cognitive functioning, including difficulty with concentration, memory and attention. Women who undergo acute surgically-induced menopause through removal of the ovaries (oophorectomy) are at a greater risk for these symptoms. Dr. Neill Epperson and her study team at the Penn Center for Women’s Behavioral Wellness are seeking women to help understand the effects of a stimulant medication (Vyvanse®) on memory and attention in women who underwent surgically-induced menopause. The research study involves functional brain imaging, cognitive tests and blood draws. Participants will be compensated for their time.
