About the Study
Researchers are studying whether a smartphone app can help improve quality of life for Black men with prostate cancer. The app is designed to:
- Support people in managing symptoms.
- Encourage engagement in their care.
- Improve overall quality of life.
The app includes:
- Information about prostate cancer.
- A way to track symptoms and share concerns with healthcare providers.
- Personal stories from other people with similar experiences.
What the Study Involves
Participants will be randomly assigned (by chance) to one of two groups:
App group
Participants in this group will receive the mobile app. They will be asked to do the following:
- Attend one virtual or in-person visit to receive instructions on how to use the app.
- Use the app for 12 months.
- Complete daily symptom, diet and exercise surveys for 3 months.
- Complete weekly surveys on mood and quality of life.
- Complete online surveys at 3 months, 6 months, 9 months and 12 months after enrolling.

Some participants will be interviewed at the end of the study.
Comparison group
Participants in this group will not receive the app. They will be asked to do the following:
- Complete online surveys at 3 months, 6 months, 9 months and 12 months after enrolling.

This Study is Open To:
Black men diagnosed with prostate cancer may participate if they:
- Are currently in treatment or previously treated for prostate cancer.
- Are U.S.-born, Caribbean-born, or African-born.
- Are age 18 or older.
- Are able to speak and read English.
This Study is Not Open To:
People who do not meet the requirements listed above.
