About the Study

NOTE: This study is no longer recruiting patients.

The purpose of this research is to study and understand the genetic and molecular causes of breast and prostate cancer in people with African ancestry. The research is led by a group called the African Caribbean Cancer Consortium (AC3) and involves gathering information from patients in several different countries and regions, including the Bahamas, Barbados, Benin, Burkina Faso, Haiti, Jamaica, Kenya, Namibia, Trinidad and Tobago and the United States. The main questions AC3 wants to answer are:

  1. What genetic changes happen in the DNA of people of African descent who have breast and prostate cancer?, and
  2. How does the way you live, your lifestyle, and other factors affect these genetic changes and the development of cancer?
