"As many of you know, I was diagnosed with a BRCA1 genetic mutation in 1999. These mutations are hereditary and can be passed down from one's father or mother. Women with a BRCA mutation face up to an 85% lifetime risk of breast cancer and a 60% risk of ovarian cancer. About 10% of all breast cancers and 15% of ovarian cancers are considered heredtiary."
