I have an extensive family history of breast and ovarian cancer. As an oncology nurse, I learned more about genetic testing and my hereditary risk of developing cancer. I later found out that I carried the cancer causing genetic mutation called BRCA-1. Having this particular genetic mutation put me at an 87% chance of developing breast cancer and a 44% chance of developing ovarian cancer."
