Basser LogoFORCE is partnering with the Basser Research Center for BRCA, the first-of-its-kind center within Penn's Abramson Cancer Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Basser focuses on BRCA1 and BRCA2 outreach, prevention, early detection, treatment and survivorship. The Basser Center was established by Penn alum's Mindy and Jon Gray in honor of Ms. Gray's sister, Faith Basser, who passed away from ovarian cancer at 44.

Our collaboration with Basser will strengthen ties between people coping with BRCA-related issues and the Penn researchers and physicians devoted to finding new ways to prevent and treat BRCA-related cancers. 'Individuals involved with FORCE can play a key role in helping us shape our research agenda by telling us about their experiences and helping us understand what information and resources are important to them as they navigate the process of receiving genetic testing results, planning strategies to reduce their risk of developing cancer, or receiving treatment for the diseases linked to these genes,' says Susan Domchek, MD. 'Working with FORCE provides us with a terrific opportunity to connect with a motivated group of people across the nation who want to be our partners as we work toward improving the care we can offer them.'

FORCE and Basser will work together to develop educational resources, drive research forward, and hold quarterly support groups for people in the Philadelphia area.
