Session: Communicating Cancer Risk with Extended Family Members
Speakers: Megan Myers, MS
Knowing you have an inherited mutation in BRCA or another gene that increases cancer risk provides you with the opportunity to alert other family members of their potential risk. Many people struggle with reaching out to extended family members and discussing cancer risk. Factors such as complicated family dynamics, geographical distances, and/or weak families can be challenging for people who want to inform family members but don’t know where to start. In this session, you will learn tools for reaching out to extended family and sharing genetic information.
