I Just was tested positive for BRCA1. I am a 3rd generation carrier. Planning for surgeries in the immediate future.

I'm 25, married to a very supportive and loving husband of 4 years. I have two beautiful children, a 2 year old boy and 4 month old girl.
My grandmother was diagnosed at 32 of breast cancer and passed at age 36/37. My Mother was diagnosed at 37, who passed in the same way a week after her 40th birthday. She tested (BRCA1+) before she passed away to provide us (her 4 daughters) with whatever the outcome would be. I'm the first out of my sisters to test for this, and I just received my results back tonight. I've been waiting 7 years to test for this, it is so relieving to finally know and be able to fight this once and for all!
I'm sure there will be other things I add to this as my journey gets going, but for now knowing that I probably won't have any more kids given this information. First and foremost though, knowing the talk I will be having someday with my kids to share with them their risk.
I am thankful I am not waiting to get surgery. If there's one thing I have learned, cancer does not come when it's convenient. The sooner the better for everything.
I actually just found this website a few months ago. It's been very comforting to know there are others with the same hopes, fears, physical and emotional needs. What a blessing.
