New research suggests that some ovarian cancer in BRCA carriers may start in the fallopian tubes. Drs. Ilana Cass (Cedars-Sinai) and Doug Levine (Memorial Sloan-Kettering) discussed:

  • the latest research and expert opinions on whether all or most hereditary ovarian cancer begins in the fallopian tubes
  • approaches to ovarian cancer risk-management based on these findings
  • options for lowering the risk for ovarian cancer in high-risk women
  • benefits and risks of surgical removal of the fallopian tubes only (salpingectomy)
