The Things I Wish My Mother Would Have Told Me is an autobiographical play coming to NY (from London) for a limited run.
Mia Perovetz' intense one-woman show, debuted in London to standing room only crowds.
The NY run opens at the Center Stage Theater, located at 48 W. 21st Street in New York.
"The Things I Wish My Mother Would Have Told Me is raw and gripping," notes director Adrienne Lovette. "It tackles head-on all of the sensitive issues that children of breast cancer patients face: 'Will my mother die?,' ''Am I genetically predisposed to get the same form of cancer?' And, of course, 'Why?'"
Mia Perovetz's show is an example of a new genre of autobiographical plays and novels, designed to forge bonds between women, helping them learn and grow from the experiences of others facing similar life-defining challenges, "this is about healing and about the process of how you heal," she explains.

You can purchase tickets for any night in the two week run at Theatre Mania.
Dear Force Members,
Daily I am faced with the reality that my mother is no longer just a phone call away - and when I began to feel my life slowly coming together and my aching heart begin to repair - I was faced with a new reality that the dreaded cancer that took my mothers life so young - may also be mine in the years to come.
My new journey now is overcoming my fear of the chance I may have inherited more genes than I have originally wished for.
My play highlights the reasons why many of us daughters are choosing to be tested for the BRCA gene mutation. I - upon the close of my play - will be tested and receive genetic counseling (between us I'm terrified). I wish for my play to take a public stand and speak for all women who wish to take control of their own destiny and out of the hands of fate - without the skepticism and prejudice of the fearful; and of course our insurance companies and HMO's.
I hope you can make it to my show and share it with your friends and loved ones.
Thank you,
Mia Perovetz
