Session: Young women's workshop
Speaker: Susan Domchek, MD and Suzanne O'Neill, PhD
This 90-minute concurrent session will provide information for and take a problem-
solving approach to address issues specifically for previvors and high-risk
women who are age 35 or younger. Presenters will discuss:
- risk management options for young women
- emerging information about risk-management and timing in young women
- coping with risk without being overhwelmed
- the importance of finding peer support
- approaches to fitting BRCA and risk-management into career and family planning
- dating and associated challenges for young survivors and previvors
This session is appropriate for:
- women who carry a BRCA mutation
- women with hereditary
breast cancer in their family
- relatives/loved ones/caretakers for young women with breast cancer
- patient advocates, support group facilitators, and people who work with high-risk women
- health care providers who treat high-risk women
- social workers/mental health care professionals who treat high-risk women
