Session: Sharing medical information with children

This 90-minute interactive session will focus on techniques for sharing medical information including family cancer history of cancer with children age 18 years and younger and will gather audience feedback on some of the strategies presented. The session will cover:
- challenges associated with discussing hereditary cancer with young, adolescent, and teenage children
- considerations before discussing risk with children
- helpful tools to assist in the discussion of risk with children
- case studies to help emphasize individual situations and solutions
This session is appropriate for:
- Parents with hereditary cancer or risk within the family
- High-risk people considering having children
- Spouses, relatives, loved ones of people with hereditary cancer in the family
- Health care providers who treat parents with hereditary cancer in the family
- Mental health care professionals who treat parents with hereditary cancer
in the family
