Session: Networking: Parents of BRCA children
Facilitators: Paul Kredow, PsyD; Ziva Green-Kredow, MSEd
This 90-minute concurrent networking session will provide an opportunity for
parents to discuss issues and concerns associated with having children who are
or who might be at high-risk for
cancer with other parents. Topics for discussion include:
- challenges associated with discussing hereditary cancer with minor and with adult children
- considerations before discussing risk with children
- coping with guilt associated with passing on risk
- coping with adult children who choose not to test
This session is appropriate for:
- parents with hereditary cancer or risk within the family
- spouses, relatives, loved ones of people with hereditary cancer in the family
- health care providers who treat parents with hereditary cancer in the family
- mental health care professionals who treat parents with hereditary cancer
in the family
