Session: Reconstruction using implants

This 90-minute concurrent session will focus on breast reconstruction using implants.
The presenter will discuss:

• Provide an overview of the different options of breast implant reconstruction available to women including advantages and disadvantages of each
• Explain how reconstruction may or may not affect other adjuvant treatment such as chemotherapy and radiation
• Understand the other decisions that need to be made around breast reconstruction
  • Immediate vs. delayed reconstruction
  • One stage vs. two stage reconstruction

This session is appropriate for:

• survivors and previvors who are considering prophylactic mastectomy
• relatives/loved ones/caretakes of survivors and previvors considering prophylactic mastectomy
• health care providers who treat survivors and previvors
• social workers/mental health care professionals who treat survivors and previvors
