Session: BRCA and pancreatic cancer

This 90-minute concurrent session will focus on risk, screening, diagnosis and
treatment of hereditary pancreatic cancer. Dr. Klapman will discuss:
- lifetime risk for pancreatic cancer in BRCA carriers with and without a
family history of pancreatic cancer
- research on early detection for pancreatic cancer in high-risk people
- factors that may increase or decrease the risk for pancreatic cancer
- new treatment for hereditary pancreatic cancer using PARP Inhibitors
This session is appropriate for:
- people who carry a BRCA mutation or who are high risk for pancreatic cancer
- spouses, partners, relatives of people at high risk for pancreatic cancer
- patient advocates, support group facilitators, and people who work with cancer
survivors and people at high risk for cancer
- health care providers who provide care to survivors and people at high risk for cancer
- social workers/mental health care professionals who treat survivors or people at high risk
for cancer
