Session: BRCA and pancreatic cancer

Speaker: Jason Klapman, MD

This 90-minute concurrent session will focus on risk, screening, diagnosis and
treatment of hereditary pancreatic cancer. Dr. Klapman will discuss:

• lifetime risk for pancreatic cancer in BRCA carriers with and without a
  family history of pancreatic cancer
• research on early detection for pancreatic cancer in high-risk people
• factors that may increase or decrease the risk for pancreatic cancer
• new treatment for hereditary pancreatic cancer using PARP Inhibitors
  

This session is appropriate for:

• people who carry a BRCA mutation or who are high risk for pancreatic cancer
• spouses, partners, relatives of people at high risk for pancreatic cancer
• patient advocates, support group facilitators, and people who work with cancer
  survivors and people at high risk for cancer
• health care providers who provide care to survivors and people at high risk for cancer
• social workers/mental health care professionals who treat survivors or people at high risk
  for cancer
