Session: Sexuality and body image
Speaker: Sharon Bober, PhD
This 90-minute concurrent session will focus on the effects of cancer or hereditary risk on body image and
sexuality. Dr. Bober will address:
- the physical and emotional challenges that can affect self-image for survivors and previvors after surgery
- how surgery, treatment, or menopause can effect sexuality in previvors, survivors, and their partners
- options for improving sexuality and body image
- discussion for problem-solving options and interventions to address these challenges
This session is appropriate for:
- breast cancer survivors, ovarian cancer survivors, previvors
- women with a BRCA mutation or hereditary cancer in the family
- spouses, partners, and significant others of survivors, previvors with a BRCA
mutation or hereditary cancer in the family
- health care providers who provide care to survivors or previvors
- social workers/mental health care professionals who treat survivors, previvors
or their spouses or partners
