Add your VoiceIf you'd like to add your own story to our Voices of FORCE pages, please complete our Voices of FORCE form. My journeyI am 47 years old and married 26 years to my #1 supporter! I have 2 daughters 19 & 23. I am a 5 year breast cancer survivor (Stage 3B ~ lumpectomy/chemo/radiation). I have no family history of cancer or BRCA1+ mutation. My mom and 2 siblings tested negative. The hardest part of my journeyKnowing that the mutation could be passed on to my daughters. They have not been tested yet. If I could do it over againI would have had the testing before I had my initial surgery. I would have had bilateral mastectomies with immediate reconstruction instead of having the issues I have now. My participation with FORCEI am so glad to have found friends that understand what BRCA is all about. I have been fortunate to attend two conferences where I learned so much. Other thoughtsI am working very hard to get a local support group started in my community. I am also very excited that the HBOC bill was passed!! Now more people can be informed and get tested. |
