My husband. He has stood by my side through ovarian cancer and now the PBM. He has encouraged me and loved me every step of the way! He would also be my Superhero!

My journey

Found out about BRCA2+ status less than 6 months ago. Tested because my mother had ovarian cancer and I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer at age 40. Had a prophylactic mastectomy with expanders, implants, and nipple reconstruction.

The hardest part of my journey

Making the decision to have the surgery.

If I could do it over again

I would have tested sooner.

My participation with FORCE

Reading the boards has helped me in my decision-making process. It also has helped me feel that I am not alone and that there are women out there who are willing to support me and walk me through the process.

Other thoughts

I am an 8 year survivor of ovarian cancer. I was not willing to wait to see when and at what stage breast cancer was going to appear.
