My journey

I am a 52 year old, type I Diabetic that is BRCA II Positive. My grandmother lost her life to breast cancer, my mother has survived it twice and I chose to be PROACTIVE and after getting the genetic results as positive, had my ovaries removed when I was 41. For the last 10 months I have once again chosen to be PROACTIVE and had a prophylactic mastectomy with reconstruction. In May of this year I had my expander's switched out for implants! MUCH BETTER!

The hardest part of my journey

The expansion was very difficult for me and as a Diabetic (my blood sugar reacts to pain and inflammation) the process of reconstruction has taken longer than most.

If I could do it over again

I would do it again and ABSOLUTELY have my ovaries and breasts removed. I DON"T LIVE in FEAR anymore!!
