I tested positive for the BRCA1 gene one year ago. I took the test after my sister found a lump in her breast and soon found out it was breast cancer. My mother also was diagnosed six years ago and is a survivor. My sister is in remission and doing great. After putting what I found out a year ago the last few months I have really started to do all the research and found two amazing surgeons and just had surgery on March 22, 2013. I'm home still recovering. As I sit here typing in a lot of pain, I know this was the best decision I ever made. I have a 4 1/2 year old daughter and an amazing husband that I couldn't live without so I wanted to be a Previvor and take care of my situation before the situation came to me.
The hardest part of my journey
Waking up I'm the hospital and not being able to move. I do not take pain well at all and I'm struggling everyday. Plus the fact that I can't pick up my daughter if the toughest part of this recovery.
If I could do it over again
I would not. My surgeons were amazing. My family has been supportive
My participation with FORCE
Thank you for all the help everyone has done for me. I love you all!
